description
It's a strange phenomenon to be actually there, to experience something in one's daily life and in one's flesh, while at the same time feeling absent. To live with the impression of not being yourself. We often hear this type of complaint, evoking a dius, sometimes painful, mal-being: everything's fine in my life, but it's not. So many people ask themselves, Is this really where I belong? Is this life for me? Questions that could be summed up in a single question: Who am I? With this creation, the artistic team wishes to focus on the quest for identity. The idea is that the human being can be plural, passing through different states and evolving over the years. They have lived through twenty years of dance, with physical transformations, decisive encounters, failures and renunciations, competitions, inspiring other dancers to take artistic paths, all these experiences never cease to change and grow them. The performers question the search for self. Why should we necessarily find ourselves? The concept of the individual suggests that you have to go deep inside yourself to find a hard, geographically defined core, before you can come to the surface and announce: That's it, I've found myself! Another vision would be to see the individual as a being constantly in the making, reinventing himself in the course of his experiences. Jean-Paul Sartre wrote: To do and in doing to do and be nothing but what we do. Everything is movement, including the self. The creation was inspired by the second vision, shared by the 5 dancers in the project. 5 very personal ways of conceiving dance and deploying it on stage, they have one thing in common: the acceptance that the self is in constant mutation. MERAKI, a Greek word with no equivalent in any other language, represents giving our body and soul to all activities. It's the idea that whatever we do, we must do it with creativity, passion and change.
